Need a Ride to the Airport?

Going to school at Ole Miss also means living in a small town that isn’t the easiest place to get to. The closest international airport is in Memphis, Tennessee, about 65 miles from the university. I know how much parents look forward to having their kids home from college for holiday breaks, and you may be stressed about finding them a ride to the airport. Don’t worry- there are various options to get your baby Rebel to the airport safely and on time for their flight home.

Your child might find a friend to give them a ride to the airport when several students are headed to Memphis to fly home for holidays and breaks. If they are planning to travel home at other times of the year and either don't have a car or want to leave their car in Oxford, there are a few options:

Of course, there is always Uber/Lyft, but if you or your student aren’t comfortable using those apps, there are a few other airport transportation methods you may prefer. The University’s Division of Outreach Events and Services offers a shuttle to the Memphis airport for students and University affiliates. The shuttle service does not run consistently; it runs on a reservation basis only. You should make your shuttle reservation at least 6 days prior to your date of travel to ensure a shuttle will be available at the time requested. The cost of one round-trip shuttle is $135 per person. If you only need it one way, it is $85 per person. To make a reservation, fill out a shuttle request form here, on the university outreach website.

Another option for you and your student to consider is Q's Taxi. You can schedule your trip by calling 662-897-0975. Q is locally owned, bonded and insured. They are a great company that can get your student to the airport safely. (Make sure to let Q know that POM sent you!)

Regardless of how you choose to get your student to the airport, we wish them and all of you safe travels and a very Merry Christmas!!
