I know how much parents look forward to having their kids home from college for holiday breaks, and you may be stressed about finding them a ride to the airport. Don’t worry- there are various options to get your baby Rebel to the airport safely and on time for their flight home.
Your child might find a friend to give them a ride to the airport when several students are headed to Memphis to fly home for holidays and breaks. If they are planning to travel home at other times of the year and either don't have a car or want to leave their car in Oxford, there are a few options:
Of course, there is always Uber/Lyft, but if you or your student aren’t comfortable using those apps, there are a few other airport transportation methods you may prefer. The University’s Division of Outreach Events and Services offers a shuttle to the Memphis airport for students and University affiliates. The shuttle service does not run consistently; it runs on a reservation basis only. You should make your shuttle reservation at least 6 days prior to your date of travel to ensure a shuttle will be available at the time requested. The cost of one round-trip shuttle is $135 per person. If you only need it one way, it is $85 per person. Another option for you and your student to consider is EZ-RYDR. This is a ride-share company developed by Oxford local, Kyle Staude, and a couple of his friends, all of which graduated from the
University of Mississippi. Through their mobile-app, your student can have unlimited rides for a set price, rather than paying ride-by-ride. To ensure maximum safety, perspective EZ-RYDR drivers must undergo standard background checks along with a behavioral profile. Staude also meets with all of the drivers face-to-face before they are hired. They also offer transportation to and from the Memphis airport. Your student doesn't have to be a monthly subscriber of EZ-RYDR to utilize the airport shuttle, but we would love for you to support an Ole Miss grad and consider purchasing an EZ-RYDR membership for your student!
