Lucky Enough to Be in Oxford for St. Paddy's Day?

St. Patrick’s Day is getting closer and closer, and we’re pretty sure you know what that means: Guinness and Jameson are overtaking The Square. With Ole Miss’s spring break ending just before the crawl, students will be trickling back into Oxford for St. Patrick’s Day, which means the annual bar crawl will be bigger and rowdier than ever—in true Irish spirit. In fact, organizer Joe Dickey hopes this year’s crawl is even bigger than last years, which had close to 500 crawlers!

Dickey has been counting down the weeks until the pub crawl since mid-December. He also posted on Facebook saying he placed an order for six dozen boas on top of the eight cases of green accessories he already has. If an Oxford pub crawl didn’t sound enticing enough, there will be ribbons for the best dressed crawlers. Needless to say, Oxford is going to be covered in a layer of green!

The 10th annual St. Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl will start at 3 p.m. on March 14, and thankfully so because Oxford’s going to need at least a day to recover from this one. The pub crawl route starts at Harrisons (previously Frank and Marlee’s), then later moves to Moe’s, Proud Larry’s, The Round Table, The Library, Funky’s, Rooster’s, and ends at The Blind Pig at 11:59 p.m.

This event is great for parents and students near and far, and it’s truly one of the greatest organized events people can look forward to in the spring ahead of Double Decker weekend.

Other Events

If the pub crawl doesn’t seem right up your alley, don’t worry! There are tons of St. Patrick’s Day events going on prior to and during St. Patrick’s Day that may be more your style or your student’s style.

If you or your student are looking for new ways to spend St. Paddy’s, look no further! The Sipp is hosting a Pinot Noir tasting on St. Patrick’s Day starting at 5:30 p.m. While we can’t say this is a traditional way to spend St. Patrick’s Day, it sure does sound like a relaxing way to unwind on a Monday.

If you’re more interested in enjoying your St. Paddy’s with a beer and some sports, the Ole Miss baseball team plays UT Martin at Swayze on March 17 at 6:30 p.m. Hang out, cheer on the rebs, and maybe crack open a Guinness in honor of the holiday.

There’s nothing like celebrating a holiday in Oxford, so pull the green out of your closet and get ready!
