If you live anywhere near the University of Mississippi or know any students, you know what is coming up this spring. It is the first spring break back since 2019 (which we all know did not end well). Since it is the very first spring break in two years, it is time to plan a trip!
Whether searching for your student, your family or just looking for a get-away with your friends, here are some ideas for this spring break:
Destin is a great landing spot within the United States that is just an easy drive away and beautiful. Destin is about six hours and 42 minutes from Oxford, making it a great road trip destination. The water is crystal clear and the sunsets are unimaginable. If you decide to take a trip to Destin, be sure to visit The Back Porch, a seafood restaurant right near the beach. If you are looking for steak, McGuire’s Irish Pub is the place to be. If you are looking for a place to hit-the-town, head on over to Bottoms Up Bar where you can almost guarantee a game will be playing. Whether you are searching for a quiet week away, or a social excursion, Destin is a great option.
New Orleans, Louisiana
Ole Miss fans who did not attend this year’s Sugar Bowl, this is your chance. New Orleans is a great place to enjoy amazing food in good company. A great place for breakfast and lunch is The Commander’s Palace. Mambo’s is a fantastic place for your first taste of soul food. Listed as one of the highest reviewed restaurants, you cannot go wrong. Obviously, there is no limit of things to do after dark with the famous French Quarter. Bourbon street has endless entertainment and activities both in the day and at night. New Orleans is a great place to visit that would make for a fun and exciting spring break.
Turks & Caicos
If you are looking to get more adventurous with your spring break plans, Turks and Caicos is a wonderful trip outside of the country. The beaches are unlike any other with smooth and bright sand in addition to crystal clear water. This combination cannot be beat. Omar’s Beach Hut is the perfect place for a quick bite during the day. With exquisite seafood located just next to the fresh fish market, it makes for a great stop at lunch time. Coco Bistro is an amazing restaurant for dinner.
Cancun has been a popular destination for spring breakers for a long time. The beautiful beach line combined with the fun night-life makes for a great spring break destination. Taboo is a great spot for lunch and dinner. They serve Mediterranean food and cocktails. They are open from 1:00 P.M to 1:00 A.M. Los De Pescado is the place to head for a quick, authentic bite of Cancun. The sealine makes for spectacular views and sightseeing.
Whether you choose to have a “stay-cation” here in Oxford, or travel all the way to Cancun, enjoy this year’s spring break. If you have somewhere fun you are going, please comment and share your spring break plans. We would love to see pictures of where you are headed this break!
