As a recent Ole Miss graduate and now local Oxonian, I can’t help but feel an overwhelming love for this town and the University. I live off University Avenue, so sometimes on the weekends I will take a walk to campus and stroll through the Grove. Between thinking about my four football seasons in the Grove and countless classes in the halls surrounding the Grove, a tall brick building caught my eye: The Inn at Ole Miss. I instantly thought about one of my favorite Ole Miss memories - orientation. My parents and I were both excited and nervous but also in classic rising Freshman fashion, very eager. We booked a room at the Inn at Ole Miss almost instantly after registering for orientation. Once we checked in, we hopped on the hotel shuttle to head to dinner. There was another new Ole Miss family in the shuttle too and we hit it off instantly and actually ended up joining them for dinner after our short ride to the Square. The girl I met that day in the Inn at Ole Miss shuttle is one of my best friends still today. We even ended up joining the same sorority and getting an apartment together the following year! Our parents remain close to this day too and share a tailgate together when in town for games. Its funny how things work out like that. For all of you rising freshmen parents and students reading this, I cannot express how excited I am for you. Freshman year at Ole Miss truly is such an amazing time of growth, learning and independence and there is no better place to start making memories than orientation.
I may have a nostalgic bias towards the Inn at Ole Miss because its where I met a lifetime friend, but I am particularly excited about this new giveaway. A Hotty Toddy classic, The Inn at Ole Miss has partnered with Parents of Ole Miss to offer a free two-night stay during orientation. For more details on how to enter, head to our Facebook page and check out the post! With a prime location on campus right by the Grove, a complimentary shuttle to the square and breakfast catered by My Michelle’s, The Inn at Ole Miss is the perfect place to stay for your orientation session. Take it from me, you never know who you will meet or what memories lay ahead, but The Inn at Ole Miss is a pretty great place to start.
