JumpStart is a program designed for incoming Ole Miss freshmen to start their fall semester during the summer and 2020 registration is now open! Students can choose to attend the June, July or August JumpStart session. During the program, students choose two classes to take from a wide variety of options. To participate in JumpStart, your student must be admitted to Ole Miss beginning freshman year in the fall.
JumpStart is a great way for your students to acclimate themselves to Ole Miss life before the rest of the freshmen class moves onto campus in August. Participants can earn up to six credit hours and lighten their Fall course load. The program includes workshops, guest speakers and guided social activities that provide students the tools necessary to make their next four years a success.
JumpStart students are required to live in designated residence halls during each session. JumpStart students must sign up for Summer Housing on my.olemiss.edu. This application is separate from the online JumpStart Application, and from the Fall housing application. Jumpstart students are automatically enrolled in a Summer Meal Plan through the ID Center and Ole Miss Dining Services. This plan will be loaded on your student's Ole Miss ID card.
Students are assigned to a JumpStart Peer Mentor who will mentor and serve as their guide throughout the program. JumpStart Peer Mentors are student leaders specially trained to aid in the transition of our students into college life.
The deadline to apply for JumpStart and pay the program fee is May 1, 2020. Click here to begin registration.
